Steel House Specializes in One-Of-A-Kind Projects

After just ten years, a home can seem dated. One way to completely transform a living space is by adding an element of steel.
“A lot of our customer base is husband-and-wife duos who watch HGTV and see steel railings and absolutely love it,” says Drew Hanthorn, Vice President of Steel House, a steel service center, fabrication shop, and metal retail store.
“We try to urge people to open up their minds because truly, whatever you can dream up, we can do it for you,” says Hanthorn. “We always try to push the boundaries a bit to give your home that extra pop.”
For instance, he recently finished a custom staircase for a homeowner in Carmel. She loved it so much, she asked for a matching fireplace mantel.
“We do a lot of never-been-done-before projects. I like that. That’s the artist in me,” says Hanthorn.
Steel House also does custom steel decks, tables, fireplaces, and whole-wall coverings for those who have fireplaces that project out. “We can wrap the whole thing in steel to give it a really modern look,” says Hanthorn.
Recently, they built a sleek steel cupholder table that went on top of a conversation pit for the Indianapolis Monthly Dream Home. “The conversation pit had a flat back concrete-poured top,” explains Hanthorn. “So, we cut out cup holders and installed a big long U-shaped piece of steel on top of the concrete to tie in the wood and concrete with the rest of the steel that was in the basement.”
