The phrase, “You can’t control what happens to you, but you can control how you respond” has been appropriate during this season of uncertainty when our world got flipped upside down and inside out many times throughout the spring.
Deemed by the State of Indiana and the Department of Homeland Securities an essential infrastructure, the team at Custom Concrete has continued to work. But, as Jason Ells, Senior Vice President of Custom Concrete, says, it is not business as usual.
“We care deeply about our employees and customers and we want nothing more than for Custom Concrete to be a beacon of hope during this storm,” says Ells. As such, they have taken extreme measures to ensure the safety of their employees & customers. For starters, many of their staff are working from home. For those who do go to the job site, they have staggered start times & lunch breaks, installed hand washing stations, and continually sanitize their tools & equipment throughout the day.
“I’m thankful to be surrounded by people who are wise and calm,” says Ells. “I’ve been amazed at the creativity, determination, and compassion of our team and partners.”
For instance, one of their project managers worked with a local building inspector to get a footing inspection passed via FaceTime, which was rather creative. In addition, their team has reached out to one another to offer childcare and to ensure that their more vulnerable crew members are taken care of.
“Plus, we are hosting a series of virtual meetings to help our vendors and subcontractors navigate the new federal aid and some of the benefits and strategies that are available for them to survive this time,” says Brad Schrock, CEO of Custom Concrete. “I want to thank all our friends in the industry. As for us, we will stay calm, seek wisdom, and always do the next right thing.”
For the team at Custom Concrete, it’s important that they continue their work in a safe and responsible way. To learn more about Custom Concrete and the essential work they do, call 317-896-2885 or visit customconcrete.com.
