For more than 30 years, Open Doors of Washington Township has served the community by providing food, clothing, counseling, and spiritual guidance. They have served more than 13,000 families with 670,000+ pounds of food. Custom Concrete is a proud partner with Open Doors and highly values their tremendous impact within the community.

In 2016, Custom Concrete poured the foundation for the current Open Doors facility, but in just a few short years, the increased demand has outgrown the current facility. This fall they constructed a 3,000 sq. ft. room addition to allow Open Doors to amplify their efforts and impact on the community.

“We are very active and involved in the Westfield community so when Open Doors approached us again, we were eager to be part of the project,” says Sam Gibson, Custom Concrete Manager of Business Development. Custom Concrete coordinated with multiple industry partners to build support for the Open Doors expansion project.

“The construction industry really came together to help make a difference,” says Gibson.

The Custom Concrete team even utilized their office staff by inviting them to work with their field crews so they could experience what the field crews do on a daily basis.

As a result, the employees who usually do the office scheduling got the chance to help pour and finish the concrete, experiencing the hands-on process..

“Open Doors provides our team an opportunity to serve the community, which our employees are passionate about. Having the office and field team work hand-in-hand creates conversations where they get to better understand each other’s work,” says owner Tim Carr.“Our office members also walked away with a hands-on experience, providing our team with better knowledge to serve our customers.”

It truly is a win-win situation.

Custom Concrete doesn’t focus only on building physical homes or facilities, but they strive to be known for helping build up the local community in ways that leave a larger impact.
