Fall is here, and Catou is helping you keep up with the latest fashion trends. Fashion trends are more than choosing some clothes to make you look hip. “Trends help us to identify ourselves in the global market of fast fashion. It creates our own identity through clothes,” Berny Martin, owner of Catou and founder of Midwest Fashion Week, says.
Celebrity and Fashion Stylist, and Editor-in-Chief of PhotoBook Magazine, Alison Hernon, shared some insight into the latest fashions we’ll see this fall.
Colors make trends, and the brights lead the list for Fall. “Bright yellows, greens, blues, purples and even oranges will make great wardrobe staples,” Hernon says.
Bright colors look great not just in shirts, pants, blazers and dresses, but tying your outfit together with bright accessories is a great way to rock the style. Whether it’s with jewelry, a purse or a bright tie for men, bright accessories are the way to go. Bows are a particularly hot accessory. You can enhance a blouse or dress with a bow pin in solid colors or plaid.
Plaid and denim are perennial fall staples hitting stores with a twist this year. Whether a dress, short jacket or full jacket, or even a plaid blazer paired with high waisted jeans, these fabrics are a must for your fall wardrobe. “It’s my go-to. It’s so versatile,” Hernon says, “Mini-skirts and mini shorts are still en vogue. For a street style look, pair them with combat boots.”
Besides the staples, there’s a fashion trend that’s everywhere. “Cutout dresses all over the runway. They’re more for going out, not for casual or career wear. They look stunning on,” Hernon says. Also popular in the category of evening wear is ball skirts. “Wear a ball skirt with a button down or a crop top to create a vintage or sophisticated look. Wear them with heels or boots for two completely different looks,” she says.
You can’t talk fashion without including a girl’s favorite item – shoes. Sandals are in for early fall, including wedges with chunky platforms, strappy heels with a wedge, faux-furry shoes, rubber shoes, and knee-high boots. “You can find them in an edgy style to wear with for dresses or skirts,” Hernon says.
