TCU Builds Strong Partner Relationships

When someone sends a referral to Albert Gonzalez, mortgage loan originator at Teachers Credit Union (TCU), he treats it as if he was working with one of his own family members.

“I imagine that I’m working with someone from my own family, and I treat each referral as if I’d known them forever,” says Gonzalez. “If, on the day of closing, the member is satisfied and has had a wonderful experience, I’m more apt to get another referral.”

That’s how Gonzalez treats every referral, whether it’s from a realtor or a builder. After all, as Gonzalez says, “When someone refers your business, it’s like an extension of their service.”

TCU has a great reputation for closing transactions both for the consumer and the builder, and it all funnels back to open communication.

“My team is under 30 days in closing. That’s 45 to 60 days for any other financial institution,” says Gonzalez. “It doesn’t stop at closing because we are usually building a project with them.”

The TCU vision and mission centers around “people helping people” be financially successful. That also includes being a part of our communities to make them great places to live and work. TCU team members are active year-round in our communities, giving back in smaller day-to-day, week-to-week ways. In fact, in 2021, TCU team members volunteered nearly 4,000 hours with causes close to their hearts. In addition, TCU recently hosted its Day of Giving, the credit union’s annual single-day, corporate-wide day of service. Nearly 700 employees volunteered at more than 45 nonprofit organizations across the state of Indiana and southwest Michigan in the communities they serve.“

TCU loves to get involved in the communities we serve, whether that involves volunteering, or supporting local events,” says Gonzalez. “Because again, we are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of people in our communities.”
