A CENTURY OF SERVICE AND INNOVATION

We’re celebrating 101 years of service to the new home construction market and we’re proud to continue our legacy of innovating to meet members’ needs. As we come out on the other side of another year plagued by economic uncertainty, labor shortages, and rising costs, we want to take a moment and highlight some of this year’s successes.

THE OVERALL THEME OF 2023 WAS INNOVATION TO ENHANCE THE BAGI MEMBER EXPERIENCE…

INSIDER’S EDGE

We believe that being proactive and staying informed are the best ways to keep a business thriving. To help members stay up to date, we partnered with MarketGraphics to create a monthly report detailing the latest market trends and industry developments, along with predictions to keep our members ahead of the curve. We would like to thank the sponsors that make these reports possible: 84 Lumber, D.R. Horton, Weber Concrete Construction, and WesBanco.

WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION

One of the biggest challenges facing the construction industry is the lack of skilled workers to close the workforce gap. There’s plenty of work to go around, but not enough people to do the job! To address this issue, we teamed up with Haven Media to host the first annual Women Build It Conference. Last August, 250 women from all over Indiana gathered at the Forum Events Center to participate in a one-day event aimed at empowering and connecting women in the design and construction industry. Currently, women represent only 14% of the construction workforce. We believe women will play an integral role in the future of the industry and we have positioned BAGI as a leader in amplifying women’s voices in the field.

GIVING BACK

We are passionate about the future of Indiana’s homebuilding industry and are proud to have awarded $22,000 in scholarships to 13 deserving recipients who have chosen building as their future profession. We awarded scholarships in the names of Richard Sapp, HF Tim Hines, and Alan J. Goldsticker, all of whom played an integral role in our development. “We are confident that Richard, Tim, and Alan would be as excited as we are to give back to the community by contributing to the next generation’s success,” says CEO Steve Lains.

UPPING OUR COMMUNICATION GAME

As part of our ongoing efforts to adapt to members’ needs and reach members where they are, we revived our MyBAGI app and adopted a text program to relay reminders, updates, and important member news.

A TALE OF TWO PRESIDENTS:

In this new episode, Steve Lains has a conversation with our outgoing president, Cameron Knox, and our newly-elected president, Tatum Hill, to discuss the leadership, culture and organization of BAGI and what that means for members as we look ahead at 2024.
