Building Stronger Communities Through Local Partnership

Nestled between Highway I-69 and the verdant, expansive landscapes of Fishers is Hub & Spoke. In partnership with the City of Fishers, Hub & Spoke’s Entremaker Program offers opportunities for both children and adults to explore passions and hone practical skills.

Hub & Spoke has recently joined forces with Ivy Tech and Fishers Maker Playground to develop the Entremaker Program, a free introductory course in construction for students to learn the fundamentals of the trade. The Entremaker Program has successfully graduated several classes over the last two years, with another session starting this summer.

“This unique initiative is aimed at introducing participants to the world of construction, providing them with essential knowledge, practical skills, and real-world experience in various aspects of the construction industry,” says David Decker, Co-Founder of Hub & Spoke.

These credentials are lifetime credentials that will follow the craftsperson throughout their careers. Ivy Tech students can also receive Credit for Prior Learning for BCTI 100 so long as they enroll as a degree-seeking student. However, you don’t have to be officially enrolled in the course to benefit from the program. The Entremaker class is also a volunteer opportunity for members of the community looking to build practical experience.

As part of each Entremaker course, participants complete a group build. Hub & Spoke is seeking volunteers to partner with the students and work on the build together. It is a great opportunity to learn new skills, build them through practice, or share your knowledge.

“We are thrilled to extend an invitation for you to join our Entremaker class as a volunteer,” says Decker. “Entremaker is not just about building structures; it’s about building futures and empowering individuals with valuable skills that last a lifetime.”

The Hub & Spoke program is not just the first step for aspiring construction professionals, but also a holistic approach to building stronger communities. Students just beginning their journey receive hands-on education alongside seasoned professionals, from novices to master artisans. Whether you’re looking to get more practical experience or a mentorship opportunity Decker believes the Entremaker Program is the perfect place to start. “Everyone deserves the opportunity to unlock their full potential and pursue their passions, and Entremaker is here to help make that vision a reality.”
